OMG July Mompreneur of the month~ASK A NANNY

MAMAS July is my birthday month, I have been in negotiations with a fellow mama for a business venture, and I have come across two people in technology who have offered to be advisors for my technology platform… so as you can see I’m a bit behind this month with the post… SO SORRY.

This Months Mama is Stef Tousignant from  I walked into her house and I thought I had gone directly into a beautiful little preschool, but also a very modern and stylish flat here in San Francisco.  I don’t know how she does it?  Everything was in place, everything clean and baby…. well he napped!  I honestly think it’s true, a nanny has super powers that make everything right!

Enter Stef…

Tell us about you and your business-to-be! is an advice website for parents of infants and toddlers. Parents write in their question via email, FB or Twitter and I answer right away with helpful tips, developmental info and pages from favorite parenting books to read.

What was your career prior to becoming a mompreneur

I was a nanny for 5 years and before that I was an infant teacher for 3+.

Why do you want start your own business?

I love to be my own boss, my mother ran her own business my whole childhood and always had the flexibility to make us the priority, which is what I do now with my kids!

What makes you unique and makes your business different from anyone else out there?

I am open to all parenting styles and understand that parenting is hard and you do what you can to get through the phase your in at that moment. I am not judgmental – I am here to help. I know infants and toddlers extremely well and am always available to help anytime a parent asks!

What accomplishments are you most proud of in your business so far?

That I have built this business while raising my sons, setting an example of what you can do if you put your mind to it. I love to support my readers whether they are nannys or parents, it is a rewarding experience.

What do you like most about being a mompreneur?

I like and dislike the same thing in fact, which is that I can be a stay-at home mom and be with my baby every day and run this business – but at the same time somethings got to give sometimes and its always the business, so it can be slow going…

What advice do you have for other aspiring mompreneurs?

Get childcare even if its part time, otherwise a year or two to your business plan!

If someone knocked on your door, and it was during business hours… (assuming you work at home) how will they find you?  Kid on hip, overalls… pjs?

Baby on hip, jeans and tshirt, probably forgot to brush my hair (as usual) nursing my one cup of coffee I am allowed a day (BFing!)

Do you each lunch?  Favorite food?

Yes I have to I am BFing but Im sure if I wasnt I would skip it….ice cream (trying to cut the nightly habit left over from pregnancy days!)

What time do you finally fall into bed at night?

1130/12 after pumping….

Oh, and also… open ended question… any insight or advice for other mamas?

Go out with your husband, find a good nanny you can trust and make part of your family.  Don’t expect quick fixes to work in the long run when it comes to parenting, it really does take hard work and a lot of time and patience! (and lots of LOVE of course!!)

Any challenges you’d like to mention…?

Prioritizing my daily life as well as tasks I have to do for my business….
